Vai continued to vie for our attention with his vibrant, agile and innovative playing paired with his strong stage presence Most started with congratulating Vai on the 25th anniversary before trading licks. The guitar greats that jammed with Steve on this tour appeared via video. Steve greeted his fans chatting a bit about the album and the 80's before introducing the first special guest of the evening. The band segued into Passion and Warfare with a lavish "Liberty" flowing into an exotic "Erotic Nightmares". The paced slowed a bit for "Tender Surrender" a warm textured piece packed with nuanced tricks of the guitar trade. As one would expect the instrumentals were intense and inventive. Vai slipped out of the suit for "The Crying Machine" and "Gravity Storm" which featured a call and response section with the crowd.

Lighting and videos were used to full effect throughout the concert starting with a blazing and heavy "Bad Horsie" where Steve made a dramatic entrance in a spaceman like costume with laser lights emanating from his head. When the show starts like this you know you're in for a good night. "The things that have never been done before are what interest me most." "For me, the real gravy is when I hear a strange or beautiful sound in my head and then make it real in the world using the devices I have as a musician," says Vai.

The album was based on a series of dreams melding spacy and spiritual elements. The 14-track instrumental record is still highly regarded and has been certified Gold by the RIAA. In celebration of the 25th anniversary release of Steve Vai's groundbreaking Passion and Warfare album a world tour is in progress, which included a stop at the Marathon Music Works in Nashville, Tennessee on November 19, 2016. Vai's second solo album, "Passion and Warfare," was released in 1990. Records contract and signing to Relativity Records. After playing on two successful Roth albums, "Eat 'Em And Smile" and "Skyscraper," Vai went solo again, buying out his Warner Bros. Vai replaced Yngwie Malmsteen as the guitarist for Alcatrazz and played on the album "Disturbing The Peace." Vai left the group following the tour to join David Lee Roth's solo band following Roth's departure from Van Halen. This material would be released as his first solo album, "Flex-Able," in January 1984.

He formed two separate bands, the Classified and 777, and began recording music in his own professional studio.
He started as a transcriptionist for Frank Zappa in 1978, joined his band in 1980 and stayed until 1983. He first learned guitar by studying under Joe Satriani and also studied at the Berklee College of Music. American guitarist, songwriter, composer and producer.
